Foreign journalists praise Government Work Report

Editor's Note: Chinese Premier Li Keqiang delivered the Government Work Report 2018 at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Monday morning. China Daily reporter Song Jingli asked five foreign journalists about what impressed them most about the report.

So what impressed me the most is how the economy developed during the past five years. We are talking about an annual growth of 7.1 percent. The social measures in terms of poverty alleviation and social security are good and productive steps from what I can conclude out of the figures provided. Efforts to decrease the load of administrative works for entrepreneurs and enterprises is something Mauritius is trying to do and I see that China is improving a lot on that.

The economic growth I would say is a success.

Being from a country with a high unemployment rate, I liked the focus on job creation measures and how the government has made strides in alleviating poverty and providing housing for the poor.

Easing things for foreign investors, and welcoming professionals from other countries is also interesting and I think it will contribute in turning China into a vibrant multinational country.

I was impressed about the lifting of 68 million out of poverty. 8.3 million people have been relocated from inhospitable areas. 26 million housing units have been built in downtown areas and more than 17 million dilapidated houses have been correlated in rural areas.

These figures, as reported by the Premier, show that the people's lives are better.

What more can citizens demand from a government when things continue to get better? I'm really impressed.

It's a very comprehensive and promising report. I especially enjoyed his plan for education reform for younger students.

What has impressed me the most are achievements made at the social domain where a large number of people have been lifted out of poverty. China has also taken steps to be the leader in dealing with environment challenges, which is praiseworthy.
