3.128 complements

A link verb links a subject and a complement. The subject, as usual, comes first and the complement comes after the verb. The complement describes or identifies the subject; it is a structure built around either an adjective or a noun.

The use of link verbs with complements is explained in paragraphs 3.133 to 3.155.

Some other intransitive verbs are sometimes used with complements. See paragraphs 3.156 to 3.161.
