3.104 pronoun object

When the object is a pronoun such as 'me', 'her', or 'it', it usually comes before the second word of the phrasal verb. This is because it is not new information, and so it is not put in a position of prominence at the end of the clause.

• I waited until he had filled it up.
• George handed it over to one of the tribesmen.
