Back in Thomas Jefferson's day, we were a nation of farmers and merchants, and the boss of each farm or store was usually the owner. Some worked hard, were cruel, and enjoyed prosperity. Some worked hard, were fair, and prospered even more because they attracted loyal workers who didn't need as much expensive supervision. Some were lazy or had lazy heirs, or were just plain unlucky, and they failed. In any event, it was their private property and each one was entitled to use his property any way he saw fit.

Q. Write the word from the paragraph which best identifies the goal of private enterprise.
